International relations

As part of the development of its international relations and as a representative hospital federation in France, the UNICANCER Federation became a member of two international federations and a global organization.

IHF, INTERNATIONAL HOSPITAL FEDERATION

IHF member - International Hospital Federation

IHF, an independent, non-profit and non-governmental body, groups together healthcare organizations, mostly hospital associations and representative bodies (as well as their members), but also other organizations working in the health field. Its headquarters are in Geneva.

As an international network of hospitals and health organizations, the IHF maintains cooperation between several dozen member countries on the 5 continents.

Its primary mission is to represent its members at the international level in their relations with other organizations, to take a stand on global issues and contribute to improving the health of everyone around the world by improving the performance of health organizations.

As a representative hospital federation in France, the UNICANCER Federation has been a member of IHF since 2012.

HOPE, EUROPEAN HOSPITAL AND HEALTHCARE FEDERATION

EUROPEAN HOSPITAL AND HEALTHCARE FEDERATION (HOPE)

HOPE is an international, non-profit and non-governmental organization grouping together hospital associations in the public and private sectors, regional and national federations in the fields of health, and public health authorities. Its headquarters are in Brussels.

It now has 35 organizations from 28 countries of the European Union, Switzerland and Serbia.

The mission of HOPE is to promote the health of citizens in the countries of the European Union, to further improve, in the area of distribution of hospital care, the high level already achieved in the European Union and promote the concepts of effectiveness, efficiency and humanization in the organization and operation of hospital services and health systems within which they perform their duties.

As a representative hospital federation in France, the UNICANCER Federation has been a member of HOPE (European Hospital and healthcare Federation) since 2012 and serves on the Board of Governors.

UICC, UNION FOR INTERNATIONAL CANCER CONTROL

UICC - Union for International Cancer Control

UNICANCER has been a member of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) since November 2013 alongside the INCA, the National League against Cancer and the ARC Foundation.

Created in France in 1933, the aim of the UICC is to establish strategic partnerships between members and institutions involved in the fight against cancer in order to develop a global network of influence in the areas of prevention, care, awareness and training.

This membership mainly allows UNICANCER to integrate a unique international community dedicated to the fight against cancer and to enhance the activities of the Group on the international scene.

The UICC thus conducts targeted actions:

1. International advocacy (to the WHO, the UN…)

2. Development of programs with a world-impact

3. Key Events to unite members:

  • The World Cancer Day, 4 February
  • The Leadership Summit (policy makers), with key members of the UICC
  • The World Cancer Congress – WCC

International partnerships of the French Comprehensive Cancer Centers

The French Comprehensive Cancer Centers have developed partnerships with countries around the world.

This includes the training of health professionals, scientific partnerships but also support to the opening of medicological services and cancer centers, inspired by the French Comprehensive Cancer Centers model.
